Getting started is hopefully not a problem - if it works the first
time. Otherwise it may be quite complicatad to get it to work :)
I hope that it will now be even easier and work directly with the new
installation program that I use (Visual Basic Application Installer).
I myself have had real troubles to install VP on other machines than my own. I've acctually found that the easiest way is to install Visual Basic 5, and everything you need will be installed... Ha... I just love Windowz!
You will need some software from Microsoft:
Make sure you have downloaded these files. I don't know if they are included in the Setup package.
Go to the download area to find the latest release.
The idéa of the program is quite simple. First you draw a black box, same size as the screen, and displays it just to the right of the primary screen. This can be done if you have configured Windows so that you have a so called "Extended desktop", and the second screen is - just to the right of the primary screen!
So, for the program to work, you need to conf Window's desktop settings, and to do this you need two graphics cards or a so called DualHead card.
The second screen needs to have a resolution of either 800x600 or 1024x768 depending on the resolution of your projector. (The program does not handle any other resolutions.)
So just do this by rigth-clicking on the desktop, go to settings. Press "Advanced":
Choose (in some way - depending on your drivers software) Dual Screen / Extended desktop / something like that. This will result in, after rebooting, the property page will look like this:
Important: The screen no. 2 MUST be just to the right of no 1, else the program will NOT work properly. If you have lower resolution on the second screen, this must be aligned to the top of the primary screen!
This should be it! If it ain't working, there must be a problem that's not working properly! ;)
When first starting you will be prompted for the path to the database
you will use; you must select a valid path to a database, and must
therefor already have a file. You may download one from
here.
The default path for the database is "db/VideoPress.mdb".
It is then a good idea to go to the prefereces and do some tweaking. In the menu choose File ->Preferences.
The "Display"-tab:
The "DataBase"-tab:
The "Internet"-tab:
The "General"-tab:
Click "OK" to save and exit. If you've changed the path to the database you will have to restart the app.
